Q: What is this site about?
A:
IfIAm.com is more than just a storyboard for your imagination - here, you can take your imagination one step further towards realizing your dreams. If you have ever wondered "What would I do if I was:" then IfIAm.com is the place for you. To learn more about the vision that drives IfIAm.com, please read the About page.

Q: What are the "If I Am" categories?
A:
Categories are focus topics of a professional field or subject. Categories are broad, and subcategories are created for specialties within a given topic. For example, in the category "Engineering", there are electrical engineers and aerospace engineers as subcategories. Under "Celebrities" you will find names of movie stars and comedians. Don't see a subcategory? You can add your own subcategories!

Q: May I suggest a category?
A:
You may suggest a category by contacting the editor at editor@ifiam.com.

Q: Do I have to use my real name?
A:
You may use an alias when you choose a username at registration. This username will be the name that appears whenever you post an article or message. When you register to be a member, you must provide a valid email address to receive your membership information. Your valid email address will also serve as your contact information if you win a contest and we need to contact you.

Q: I need to change my Email or Password
A:
After you login with your username and password, you will be able to edit your Profile by clicking on "My Profile" and your password under "My Password". You will not be able to change your username, but you may change how your name is displayed. You may also assign your email as private by checking the "Hide my email from other users" box.

Q: Do I have to become a member?
A:
To participate, you need to sign up for an account and login as a member. Membership is free and signing up is easy!

Q: How do I post?
A:
Each one of us is an "I Am" and an "If I Am". Want to share your experiences? Clicking on the "I Am" graphic (under "Who Are You:") will take you to the "I Am" page, where you may select your current or past profession. Have a creative solution or opinion for someone? Choose the "If I Am" graphic to post your insights.

Q: Can I edit my post?
A:
To edit your posts, simply click on "My Articles" to display the list of posts you have submitted. You may then edit or delete selected posts.

Q: I don't see my post.
A:
Depending on server speed, posts may become visible within a matter of minutes. Try clicking "Refresh" or "Reload" on your browser to see changes to the page.

Q: How many words can I post?
A:
You are limited to 3000 characters per post. If you would like to post an article (length of one or two web pages), please email the editor for guidelines and submission procedures.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of times I can post to a category?
A:
We have all worn different hats at one time or another! Therefore, we encourage you to post to all subcategories that apply to you. Your only limit is your imagination.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of times I can post to a subcategory?
A:
We suggest that you post only once in a subcategory. If you need to update your post at a later time or add to your post, you may do so via the edit function from your posting screen.

Q: Do I retain copyright for my post?
A:
You retain the copyright to your post, but you permit IfIAm.com nonexclusive rights to display your content on this site and other sites. Our copyright notice serves to protect your content against infringement by other parties.

Q: May I promote my post elsewhere?
A:
We encourage you to promote your content by linking to your post on IfIAm.com. However, we do not tolerate unsolicited promotions or "spamming" on public forums.

Q: Are posts censored?
A:
IfIAm.com does not allow posting of offensive or illegal material. Items prohibited from IfIAm.com posting activities include: hate propaganda, sexually abusive posts, material infringing copyright, and communication of unlawful or threatening acts.

Q: Can I delete a post?
A:
You may delete or "pull" a post by signing into your account and choosing "My Articles". Click on the Trash Can corresponding to the post that you want deleted. Please be cautious - you will not be able to retrieve deleted posts and the action is permanent.

Q: What do I do after I post?
A:
To view your post after you have submitted content, click the "Home" icon to display the page with category listings. Select the category and subcategory that you posted under to view your post. Make sure you hit "Reload" or "Refresh" on your browser to see updated content.

Q: Can I attach images to my post?
A:
You may attach images to your post by clicking on "Upload" in the Picture field. A dialog window will open, allowing you to browse the files you wish to upload and "Send File". Only files of .jpg, .gif, and .png formats less than kilobytes (kb) are accepted.

Q: Can I include hyperlinks with my post?
A:
At this time, posts are hyperlink-disabled. To include a link, please write out the uniform resource location (URL) of the site in the post.

Q: How long will my post be available?
A:
The more ratings your posts receive, the longer your post will remain in visible traffic! We will delete all posts that are not rated after 30 days.
